A: FROM MENTOR SUSAN MODESITT
IN KY
The gender differences are becoming less. Depending on the
medical school, the
percentage of medical students that are women in usually around
40-45%.
Certain fields in medicine are still dominated by men (notably
some of the
surgical specialties) and some fields are becoming predominantly
women
(notably Obstetrics and Gynecology where about 70% of the
residency
applicants are women). But every specialty is open to women,
I have never
had a problem or a concern because of my gender.
