Q: (Initially posted on July 1, 2003) FROM MENTEE NAJJA S. IN PA
What type of background or school do you have to go to be a zoologist or to
work with animals? Do you need science?

A: FROM MENTOR ELIZABETH HINCHEY IN RI
Hi Najja-

Here are two zoology web sites that should be helpful and get you off on
the right track. As a marine ecologist, I work with a variety of marine
animals, so technically I am a zoologist too! It is a very fun career.
Good luck!

This web site is about careers in zoological parks, and has tips for
starting a career, including what type of education is required

This web site is for the Oregon State Zoology Department...you can ask
current zoology undergraduate students questions about their classes,
and there are links such as "what is a zoologist?" and "links to
zoology careers." It sounds like the page is geared for high school
students, so jump in!
