Q: (Initially posted January 7, 2004) FROM STUDENT MEMBER PAOLA L. IN IL
What college would you recommend if I want to be a medicine inventor and work in a lab?

A: FROM MENTOR SUZAN SONG IN IL
If you want to make medicines - it sounds like you're thinking about making
drugs in a lab? That would be working for a pharmaceutical company. You could
also be a pharmacist - the person who gives out the prescription drugs at
Walgreens, etc. There are lots of really interesting jobs. First, why do you
want to make medicines? What part of it interests you?

For college, it doesn't really matter what you want to be. What matters most is
where you think you'll get exposed to a lot of different things, and where you
think you'll grow the most. To work in a lab making drugs, a background in
Chemistry would probably be the most fit. You can have Chemistry be your major
at any college. Let me know if you have more questions :)
