A: FROM MENTOR RACHEL HUTTER
IN FL
(WITH HELP FROM HER SISTER-IN-LAW PAM HUTTER IN IL)
A lot of firms hire on summer interns - the thing for you
to do is to call firms and express your interest. Let who
you talk to know what you have to offer the firm - such as
if you have had high school classes in drafting or AutoCad,
or if you learned PhotoShop in art class. Or if you haven't
- that you would be willing to answer the phone and help around
the office wherever you could. Let them know that you are
investigating architecture as a career choice.
Kurtz Associates in DesPlaines, link below, may hire summer
interns. I know an architect there named Rick Diehl - direct
your e-mail to his attention.
Join Chicago Women in Architecture as a student member -
if you attend an event with them you will meet many women
architects who may lead you to a summer postion. Know that
every woman in the room was at one time a high school student
who thought that there might be something for them as an architect
- it is a fairly informal friendly group where a lot of contacts
can be made.

I believe that my intern needs are set for this summer, however
I would be happy to talk to you more about this. There is
a contact link for me at our website...
