There are a number of options, the first of which is to use
the internet
to search for computer engineering positions at some high
tech companies
such as IBM, Microsoft and Dell. In addition to looking at
job types and
their requirements, you might also search their homepage sites
to get a
better understanding of their business and products. Their
Annual Report
maybe online as well and it will be another good source of
IT information.
I found the following career search sites below when I performed
a quick
search for IBM, Microsoft and Dell:
At the following IBM site, you can search by either job type
or
location for positions at IBM: http://www-1.ibm.com/employment/
At this Microsoft site, you can register and then enter their
career
site and search for MS positions:
http://www.microsoft.com/careers/default.mspx
At this Dell site, you can search for positions by position
or
location (this site is specifically for their Tennessee location)
:

In addition to using the internet, I suggest you meet with
a college
counselor to discuss your question and ask to speak with either
a student
or professor in their undergrad engineering dept.
Lastly, there's always the HR dept. of an engineering company
that can be
contacted via telephone. No matter their size, you might attempt
to
schedule a visit so you can meet an engineer or two and get
a tour of their
facility and see their products.
Good Luck!
