Q: (Initially posted August 12, 2004) FROM STUDENT MEMBER JANIS L. IN IL
I was wondering if there are any intern programs around the DuPage County Area. If so, where? I am entering my senior year of high school.

A: FROM MENTOR KRISTIN TAGHON IN IL
Hi, Janis,
I looked on google and searched for "intership dupage county" and received
a few results.

Here is a website for searching for internships. You click on the cities
you want to look in (click on one city and then hold the ctrl key down
while you click on more to choose more than one city) and click on the area
of study you are interested and you can probably choose more than one here
with the ctrl key. It will return any internships it knows about but
companies need to have entered them. There may be more available.

I think that often, internships are offered to people in college, but you
might be able to find something. If you can't, look into volunteering.

OR, go to a place of business that you are interested in and offer to help
them out for free. College of DuPage might be happy to give you an
internship if you ask. Perhaps in their biology labs or library. They
might have a rule that they hire college students first though.

I saw that Danada is hiring experience horse riders for internships:

I saw something for the public defender:

Here is a website with a list of internships that have been completed by
students at North Central College. It suggests you look in the Psych
office binder of internships. You can use this list as a starting place
for being able to go and ask for internships

Here is a list of internships for history majors. It's another list you
can use to give you a jumpstart on where to look. I think a good place is
Naper Settlement.
