Q: (Initially posted January 19, 2005) FROM STUDENT MEMBER SAMANTHA IN NJ
I either want to be an architect or an electrical engineer, in your opinion what do you think would be a better career?

A: FROM MENTOR AIMEE WILLOZ IN MN
Hi, Samantha! Either architecture or electrical engineering would be a
great career, so the important thing is to decide which one is more
interesting to you. My background is computer engineering (closely related
to electrical engineering). In each of these fields I think there's a
balance between art and science aspects of the job. From what I've seen
the art aspects figure in much more strongly in architecture than they do
in engineering. I can't say what it's like to be an architect, but I would
describe being an engineer as solving problems and making systems work.
Good luck!
