Q: FROM STUDENT MEMBER LESLIE I.
What are the steps I need to take to become a physician's assistant, and
how many years of college will I be looking at?

A: FROM MENTOR ROSE ANN CLARK IN PA
Our university offers a master's in physician's assistant that takes 5 years to complete at the university and then a year of clinical experience (rotations with various medical doctors). In order to prepare for becoming a PA you should be taking as much math and science in high school as possible. Entrance into most PA programs is competitive so you want to be prepared. Once you are into the program you will be taking a lot of classes in biology and chemistry to get started and then the professional classes are quite demanding. You can do it, just keep up with your studies and take as much math and science as possible in high school.
Best, Dr. Rose Clark
