HORIZON AWARD NOMINATIONS DUE SEPTEMBER 3, 2004

The Partnership to Advance Science, Engineering and Technology is currently accepting individual, company/organization and high school and college student nominations for its 2004 Horizon Awards to be presented at the Society of Women Engineers National Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nominations received by September 3, 2004 will be considered.

The following awards will be presented:
· Outstanding professional who has made significant contributions to the advancement of women and girls in science, engineering and technology
· Outstanding company/organization that has made significant contributions to the advancement of women and girls in science, engineering and technology
· Outstanding high school girl who has made significant contributions to the advancement of women and girls in science, engineering and technology
· Outstanding college women who has made significant contributions to the advancement of women and girls in science, engineering and technology

To nominate an individual, company/organization or student, please submit a summary, two pages or less, describing the nominee's accomplishments toward the advancement of women and girls in science, engineering and technology. Additionally, please include:
· A summary of professional and/or community organizations in which the individual, company or student is actively involved
· Other supporting materials (please limit total submission to five pages; information exceeding five pages will not be considered)

Nominees for the professional and company/organization awards must meet one or more of the following criteria:
· Inspires young women and girls to pursue science- or technology-based careers.
· Increases opportunities for the hiring or promotion of women in science- or technology-based careers
· Serves as a mentor or role model for young women pursuing careers in science- or technology-based careers
· Creates an environment that supports women in science- or technology-based careers
· Actively supports women in science- or technology-based careers, both publicly and privately

Nominees for the high school award must meet one or more of the following criteria:
· Demonstrates stellar achievement in high school math and science classes
· Shows serious interest in pursuing a science- or technology-based career
· Participates in science- or technology-based student member organizations


Nominees for the college award must meet one or more of the following criteria:
· Demonstrates stellar achievement in college-level math and science classes
· Is pursuing a science- or technology-based career
· Participates in science- or technology-based student member organizations
· Inspires young women and girls in middle and high school to pursue science- or technology-based studies and careers

Award winners will be notified and will receive travel to and accommodations for the Horizon Awards presentation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
