Allannah Thomas is the Executive Director of Helicon, Inc., the
Mathematics
Resource and Support Center for Females in New York City which was
founded in
1999 for the purpose of establishing a place, designed and administered
with
female learning styles in mind, where females could learn to excel
at
mathematics (and related disciplines) and then go on to achieve
their
individual academic and career goals . She believes that there is
an
incontrovertible correlation between mathematical proficiency and
better job
(higher-earning) opportunities; she also believes that females must
assume
control of and responsibility for their mathematical education.
