The most exciting part of my career is watching my students gain
confidence in their problem solving abilities. I work with design,
so when a person gains confidence in design, windows of opportunity
appear. A person can take their design skills to use through career
opportunities or use design skills for personal benefit.
The toughest barriers to overcome to arrive at my current position
have been balancing the most important aspect of my life, being
a single mom, and balancing my own artistic desires. I am a single
mom of a child with a severe medical condition. She comes first
in my priorities, so I need and want to spend quality time with
her. I want to show her lots of love and want to show her by example
to follow her dreams. I also love designing and making "things."
I have a love of woodworking and construction. So it is a challenge
to juggle my responsibilities as a parent, artist, teacher and student
of life. Teaching is a career that fits perfectly and I love what
I do. I love teaching design.
