Cassie Fenoseff
Design Release Engineer
General Motors North America

  1. Current career position:
Currently I am a Label Design Release Engineer. This entails creating government compliance labels for full size trucks. Prior to this position I was a Release Engineer in the HVAC group and worked on validating and releasing the HVAC system for luxury vehicles. Prior to that I worked in the Powertrain group and was responsible for creating and implementing testing plans for various powertrain components.
  2. Education: I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Oakland University.
  3. Most exciting part of your career:
The most exciting things I have seen so far are
    1. a vehicle being built in an assembly plant starting from several parts and within 1 day becoming a complete running vehicle, and
    2. seeing parts I have designed on actual vehicles on the road and knowing that my work has affected real customers.
  4. Toughest barriers to overcome to arrive at your current position:
I don't feel that everyone has respect for other people, and I tend to be judged by my job title, job description, personal appearance, etc. Knowing that people have sometimes inaccurately judged me has taught me that "you can't judge a book by its cover". I have also come across people who have told me I couldn't do certain things, such as move to a different division. So far I have done everything I was told wasn't possible.
