Charmell Slaughter
Software Test Engineer
Microsoft Corporation
Redmond, WA
Slaughter photo

I stumbled into the software testing field after seeing how much my husband enjoyed working as a tester. I thought it would be interesting and challenging work with great pay. I was right. I started off as a software test engineer at Microsoft in October 1998 as a perma-temp working on Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server. After 6 months, I moved to the Windows User Assistance Group. In May 2000 Microsoft hired me full-time.

I learned to do what I do by reading lots of books and just "messing around" on my computer at home. Lots of trial and error and personal projects.
