
Mary C. Upshire - "Cathy" is an experienced PC Support
Specialist/LAN Administrator. She gained her experience as an IT
professional at the Computer Sciences Corporation of Oak Brook,
IL and the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. She is currently
President of AQUA Technologies, Inc., a computer services company.
AQUA Technologies is a co-sponsor of the Women's Educational Equity
Act (WEEA) Program in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools.
Ms. Upshire is a resident of Calumet Park and holds a Bachelors
of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry
University. Her education and computer experience contributes to
her ability to perform at high levels in this demanding and ever
changing field. Her strong communication skills, administrative
ability and creativity enhance her work and add to her value in
the IT industry.
Her active involvement in public service is evident through her
participation in a variety of community organizations. Cathy Upshire
serves as a member of the IT Group at the Cosmopolitan Chamber of
Commerce of Chicago and provides technical services for the Emil
Jones E-Commerce and Procurement Center. She is also a member of
the board for the Gender Equity Fund of the American Association
of University Women of Illinois. She also serves as a member of
the following committees and organizations: The IT Empowerment for
Women and Girls Initiative, the Speakers Bureau for the Gender Equity
Fund, the Digital Empowerment Opportunity taskforce which is aimed
at bridging the digital divide and the Diversity taskforce for the
7th Congressional District of the State of Illinois. She also serves
as a signer for the hearing impaired at the church she attends regularly.
Cathy Upshire is currently being trained and certified in Project
Management and E-Commerce though an apprenticeship pilot program
sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor in partnership with DeVry
University and the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce.
Her enthusiasm and thirst for excellence are attributes that bring
her to the forefront in the computer technology arena.
