I graduated from USNA in 2003. I went off to flight school to be a navigator/bombardier. I was halfway done when I was medically disqualified. I came back to the Washington, DC area and found a job as a military systems engineer. I worked on a contract with the Naval Research Lab as an Enterprise Architect. Now I support the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition Chief Engineer Director of Architecture. I help write guidelines and policies that will eventually govern Navy Systems Engineering Process.

I want to see more girls involved in science and engineering classes in middle school and high school. I was never told that I couldn't have any career. I really don't like teachers telling girls that science/engineering careers are for boys. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help. You can be pretty and be smart at the same time. I was a recent contestant for Miss Virginia USA but I also race go-karts. You can be both! An engineering career is professionally rewarding as well as personally satisfying. I am too much of a hands on person to have any other kind of career!
