Hi, my name is JaTara Brown. I currently work for Lucent Technologies as a software developer and have been working here for one year. I graduated from Southern University and A&M college with dual degrees in computer science and mathematics. What I consider to be the most exciting part of my career is the people I work with. From the time that someone has an idea to the finished product itself, we do it all. We're responsible for the hardware, software, documentation, customer support and everything in between. To me, it is exciting to watch the evolution of an idea to reality and to observe all the pieces coming together to create a quality product. The toughest barrier for me to overcome was that of being a technical professional while still maintaining my cultural identity (that of being black, hearing impaired, and female).
