I have been an Associate Professor in the Biology Program at Transylvania University for three years. Before joining the Transy faculty I was first an Assistant Professor then an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Biology at Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, AL. I received my Ph.D. and M.S. in Botany from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, and my B.S. in Biology from Bethany College, Bethany, WV. The best part of my job is getting to do what I really like to do and being paid for it! I was one of those kids who collected rocks and fossils and wanted to know the names of all the trees. Nature fascinated me. Still does. Of course, now I have kids of my own. So I work professionally and domestically, as do so many other women. That can be truly exhausting.
