Jan Zanetis

Jan Zanetis is the Director of the Virtual School. She got her B.S. from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Special Education and Elementary Education. Her M.Ed. came from Tennessee State University and was in the area of Reading Education. Jan has taught in the public schools for 24 years. She has taught Special Education students, with disabilities ranging
from Severely Multiple Handicapped to Learning Disabilities to Gifted. The last 8 years in the classroom was devoted to teaching middle school science.

Throughout her career as a teacher, Jan has been the "technology person" in her school building. This interest began with her "Student Technology Teams" maintaining Apple II's in the elementary classrooms to being the "webmaster" at her middle school. The Virtual School at Vanderbilt connects K-12 classrooms with Vanderbilt faculty, staff and students through interactive videoconferencing. Another area of focus is promoting Student Technology
Leadership teams in middle and high schools.
