Kelly Brown, PhD
Prinicipal Biologist
Midwest Research Institute
Kansas City, MO

Education:
B.S. University of Wisconsin
Ph.D. University of Washington School of Medicine

Current Career position: Principal Biologist at Midwest Research Institute

Most exciting part of my career: seeing something brand new in nature for the very first time and solving problems that will benefit society.

Barriers: It takes a lot of time and commitment to be a scientist. Many years are involved in the training of a Ph.D.-level biologist (including Bachelor's Ph.D. and Postdoctoral training, it is at least 10 years after high school). That is probably the most difficult barrier.
