Meg Williams
Technical Manager, Tru64 UNIX & Internet Security
Compaq Computer Corporation
Nashua, NH

I am currently working for Compaq Computer Corporation. My primary responsibilities are to define, develop, and deliver security software technologies for the Tru64 UNIX Operating system. I have 21 years of experience in developing software technologies for operating systems. My first job was a programmer on the then new technology of computer networks. Since then, I have worked in a wide range of jobs related to the building of operating systems, including software process engineering, open standards support, software release management, and most recently security software and practices.

I have a B.S. in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Masters in Organization Development from the American University.

I have had a number of opportunities to take a hard problem, and develop a set of goals and a team to solve the problem. In doing so I have gotten to work with some of the brightest and most influential people in my business.

The toughest barriers I had to overcome to arrive at my current position include working out a good balance between my home life and my work life, and basically being ok with choosing to make work the second priority in my life once I got married and had a family.
