Molly Johnson
Electronics Engineer
Process Integration Engineer
Agilent Technologies
Fort Collins, CO 80634

Dr. Molly Johnson has worked as an engineer in industry, has taught university physics and electrical engineering, and has worked in physics and engineering education research. Since September, 2000 she has worked a Research and Development Engineer at Agilent Technologies in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her present work focuses on development of integrated circuit processes for manufacture at the Fort Collins facility. Dr. Johnson earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Her research was the physics and computer modeling of semiconductor devices and VLSI fabrication processes. After completing her Ph.D. Dr. Johnson spent 7 years in educational research focused on promoting student learning in physics and engineering.

Dr. Johnson's technical background spans integrated circuit manufacturing, electronics, and solid-state device physics and modeling. She has taught physics and electrical engineering while serving on the faculty of the University of Oregon (UO) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) respectively.

Outside of her formal employment Dr. Johnson has been involved in promoting math, science and engineering study to high-school students through a number of outreach programs. In 1997 she co-developed a weeklong summer program for middle and high-school girls that integrates a number of technical, but accessible student-centered, hands-on activities which are designed to be fun and to foster interest in further study of science, math and engineering while introducing students to science content and engineering process. The program, called 'Geek Chic' -- Gaining Electrical Engineering Knowledge through Collaborative Hands-on Instruction and Computing has been run annually in Portland, Oregon since 1997, and in Greeley Colorado since 2001. It has also been run in Corvallis and Eugene, OR. The web site for the program is www.geek-chic.org.

For fun Molly enjoys hiking, bicycling, rowing (crew), playing her viola in the local chamber orchestra, and hanging out with friends.
