Rachel joined Union Carbide Corporation in 1996 as a Production
Engineer in the Alkyl Alkanolamines Plant at West Virginia Operations.
While at the AA plant, she implemented a new technology to maintain
premier quality and installed a new control system upgrade project
to trend and improve process control. In 1998 she was instrumental
in the implementation of the Systems Application Program, or SAP
R/3, for WVO.
Following the merger with The Dow Chemical Company in February
2001, Rachel assumed a new leadership position as one of two female
ISB leaders at West Virginia Operations. The most exciting part
of my current role is learning the new Dow work processes and culture
and convincing legacy Union Carbide employees that Dow's methods
are the best. I also enjoy working with people, and this role gives
me that opportunity.
Rachel received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from
Virginia Tech in 1996.
She coordinates Career Day Talks for the "Partners With Education"
Program, tutors students in math and is actively involved in the
West Virginia Symphony League. She also enjoys volleyball and reading.
