I love physics and I love to teach. If I could do it all over again I would still choose a career in physics. When I was in the eighth grade I knew I would end up doing either a natural science or mathematics. In my junior year of high school I took a course that included a chapter on elementary particles - and I have been hooked on physics ever since. I took a lot of science and math courses in college. I eventually ended up getting my Ph.D. in solid state physics, but I still have a passion and interest in elementary particles.

One of the greatest difficulties I encountered since high school, was an almost complete lack of female classmates and female science professors. Although I made a few excellent male friends in high school and college, most of my male classmates were either completely ignoring me or were trying to be in a fierce competition with me.
