Suzette Minorini
Global Program Manager
IBM
Austin, TX

Personal background:
I live in Austin, Texas and am mother to a 12 yr. old girl and 9 yr. old
boy. My husband is Mr. Mom so he takes care of the kids, the house, and
our two dogs. He makes it easy for me to work long hours and travel as my
job requires. We've lived in Austin almost 7 yrs. since relocating from
Boynton Beach, FL. IBM has moved us from CA to NY, FL, and now TX. 7 yrs.
is the longest we've ever been resident in one state (in our married life
of 19 yrs.). I have a bachelors degree in Cartography from San Francisco
State University and a Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine
University. I worked for the U.S. Forest Service before deciding to embark
in a technical and professional direction within IBM.

Professional background:
I'm at IBM for 17 yrs. now and worked my way up through administrative
roles into technical roles and eventually technical management. I started
with IBM as a secretary and had no idea what I really wanted to do. Upon
beginning my IBM career I attached myself to individuals who were highly
respected and very successful in their IBM careers. One of them
immediately became my mentor and encouraged me to continue my education in
order to earn an MBA. I began working on this graduate degree 6 months
after my arrival in IBM. While going to school at night I began to get
more opportunities at IBM to work on more interesting and technical
assignments. I was transferred out of my secretarial assignment and into a
service delivery role developing customized operational service contracts.
I then moved into planning where I managed back-end operations for thin
films development in research and development manufacturing. From there I
worked in marketing in customer relationship management and then I went
into a management position. I managed software tools development, build,
and test for personal software products and then became a development
manager managing programmers who developed Java Security Components for IBM
operating systems and applications. I was then promoted into a service
delivery management role where I managed global security IT delivery and
had responsibility for policies, measurements, education, tools, and
process. I am now a Global Program Manager responsible for security
physical and logical controls and countermeasures as they pertain to
commercial service delivery.
