I
have been with the Center for Advanced Energy Systems as an Energy
Management Analyst and a Project Engineer for two years. I received
my Bachelor in Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialty
in Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
I am currently pursuing my Masters in Mechanical Engineering part-time.
I earned both my Engineer-in-Training and my Qualified Specialist
certifications in 2004. The Qualified Specialist certification is
for a Department of Energy compressed air system analysis and evaluation
software tool called Air Master+.
During my college years, I was very active in the Society of Women
Engineers and served as Vice-President. I was also involved in the
Muslim Tutor is Action program assisting student in their academic
work through out their school year. I also have a two-year old son
and so my skill set includes chasing him around as well.
Currently, I work on evaluating energy efficiencies of industrial
energy systems such as motors, boilers, HVAC, chiller, etc. and
research emerging technology that can increase energy efficiency
of these systems. I also work on pollution prevention for the plants
whether it is thru energy conservation or hazardous and non-hazardous
waste minimization. I get to visit a lot of industrial manufacturing
facilities in the country to assess their operations. This gives
me the opportunity to come across a variety of problems encountered
in a plant and challenges me to design innovative solutions for
them. It is really rewarding to know that the work I do directly
impacts the competitive edge of a company and most importantly,
the environment.
