GEM-SET DAILY DIGEST FOR OCTOBER 31, 2002
*********************
QUIZ-OF-THE-WEEK QUESTION FOR STUDENTS:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
has a lab called Aquarius. Where is Aquarius located and what
do scientists study in this fascinating lab?
*********************
NEW QUESTIONS:
********************
Q: (Initially posted on 10/31/02) FROM MENTOR JOAN LUSK IN
RI
In response to Lauren's previous question, "What would
you say is the #1 invention of all human time?" Joan
suggests a new question along the same lines . . . read on
. . .
I was sure someone would say the telephone! Not to mention
the
ubiquitous cell phone. How about the zapper machine that removes
my
number from the computerized calling lists - that's a good
one.
Let's have some really frivolous answers here - what's the
cleverest
funniest invention that you "can't live without?"
How about Lycra?
Permanent press? Post-it notes?

I'm in a career choosing situation and I'm planing on going
to collage but
don't know what to go after. There is a program at school that
I'm interested in
called the ETC PROGRAM. What this program does is let you
start early on the
career that you have in mind. This program gives you practice
in the fields you
want to be in so that you can be familiar with it and know
whether or not you
still want that to be your career. Is GEM-SET along these

there classes I should be taking to get started on a career
path that suites
me? I know that I want to be in the technology field, but
I don't know what
