Research Grants
The March of Dimes supports research programs that identify means of preventing birth defects and improving the outcomes for individuals born with birth defects. The research grants in the Greater Illinois Chapter area totals $400,000 to $500,000 annually. Research grants are awarded in the following areas:
Basic Research
Clinical Research
Basil O'Connor Starter Research
Social and Behavioral Sciences
Reproductive Hazards in the Workplace
Community Service Grants
The purpose of the Community Service Grant program is to provide funding to hospitals, clinics, schools and other community organizations that exemplify the mission of the March of Dimes. The goal of this grant program is to support those programs which have the greatest likelihood of significantly reducing the incidence of low birthweight and other birth defects. The Greater Illinois Chapter provides approximately $220,000 toward community service grants.
