  1. WalkAmerica is the largest annual walking event in the world
    and the largest annual volunteer activity in most communities with:

    • 1 million people walking each year
    • A total of 13 million people involved nationwide as walkers, sponsors and volunteers staffing checkpoints and offering refreshments.

  2. WalkAmerica takes place in 1,480 communities in all 50 states. Since 1970, WalkAmerica has raised more than $900 million to improve the health of America's babies.

  3. 19,000 companies, associations, schools and community groups nationwide form teams of individuals who participate in WalkAmerica. These teams are called "TeamWalk" and raise 85% of the event's income.

  4. Teamwalk companies, associations, schools and community
    groups are recruited in the fall and registerwalkers through a series of over 300 kick-off events and other activities that occur during January, February and March.

  5. As part of TeamWalk, middle and upper management executives are recruited through CEO breakfast events organizedby local March of Dimes chapters.

  6. WalkAmerica takes place on the last weekend in April.
