ICBCHE MEMBERS:  Below is a letter that was sent to your institution's President regarding membership renewal.  If your institution is currently not a member, please follow-up.

July 2, 2001

Dear (Institution President):

I am writing to seek your continued support as an institutional member of the Illinois Committee on Black Concerns in Higher Education (ICBCHE).  The Committee's mission, to enhance the status of minorities in higher education in the state of Illinois, remains a critical issue when you consider the under-representation of Black students, faculty and administrators among Illinois colleges and universities.  This problem can only be resolved by institutions and organizations establishing common goals and collaborating on a statewide basis.

ICBCHE is dedicated to increasing minority representation in academic communities.  With the support of concerned professionals like yourself, ICBCHE has been able to develop programs that address the concerns of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.  In past years, we have received a HECA Grant, which provides seminars on career options, student leadership development, statewide publications and conference planning.  We have applied for a grant for FY 2002.

The ICBCHE has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the status of minorities in higher education, and we ask that you join us in this endeavor.  As a benefit of your membership, you will receive "Voices" our Newsletter, and access to posting vacant employment positions at your institution on our website at www.siu.edu/~icbche.  You will also have access to previewing resumes of qualified applicants via the ICBCHE web page.  In addition, you will have access to on-line chatroom conversations via the ICBCHE chatroom.  The Institutional Membership fee is $200.00 and expires on June 30, 2002.  The membership form and fee should be submitted to:

Dr. Barbara Henley, ICBCHE Treasurer
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
University of Illinois - Chicago, SSB, Suite 3000, M/C 600
1200 West Harrison Street
Chicago, IL 60607-7165

Your current membership entitles you to receive the enclosed literature.  If you find it of use and would like to request additional copies, please feel free to contact me.  We look forward to your institution's membership during the 2001-2002 academic year.

Sincerely,

Seymour Bryson, Chairperson
Illinois Committee on Black Concerns in Higher Education.
