Thank you for your interest in our new research study.
This study will enroll 100 women evenly distributed between
the ages of 18 and 53 who are not currently taking hormones (e.g. birth
control). The women will participate in the study for two menstrual cycles. The
women will come one time to Rush University to sign consent, and to have a
complete physical including lab work (all paid for by the study). Results of
the physical will be sent to you to keep or share with your practitioner. Every
day in the study the women will complete a questionnaire about their
feelings/symptoms for the previous 24 hours. This will take about 5-7 minutes
per day. Also, on days 3, 6 and 9 of the menstrual cycle, women will have a
blood draw to examine their hormone levels which change throughout the
menstrual cycle. Blood draws can be done at Rush, or a phlebotomist can come to
your home. We are trying to make things easy for our participants. These
procedures will be repeated the next cycle.
Women who complete the study will receive $100.
I would love to have you screen for this study to determine
your eligibility. This screener would take about 5 minutes to complete. Please
e-mail Katherine at kburg1@uic.edu with
your age, race/ethnic background, and phone number.
