Directions to the Hyatt at University Village from O'Hare International Airport via public transportation

The Chicago public train system is called the "El" ("elevated train"), not the "subway".  Rides cost $1.50 and transfers are 30 cents.  To ride the train, you must buy a plastic CTA card from a dispenser in any El station; you can add money to this card and reuse it. El maps are available free at most stations, and are posted inside most train cars. Taking public transportation to the Hyatt will involve a transfer to a bus, on which you use the same card you bought to use the El.

Take the Blue Line from O'Hare and exit at the UIC/Halsted stop. Follow the signs to the Morgan Street exit. At street level, turn left and walk south to Harrison Street. From the corner of Harrison and Morgan you can take either (1) any free UIC campus shuttle or (2) the #7 Chicago CTA bus WEST (away from downtown) to the corner of Harrison and Ashland. Make sure you have at least 30 cents for the transfer on your plastic CTA card if you take the bus. The hotel is on the southeast corner of the Harrison/Ashland intersection; it will be across the street from where you get off the bus.

The Blue Line runs from O'Hare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The campus shuttle runs from approximately 8:00-5:00 M-F and the #7 Harrison St. bus runs 6:00am-7:00 pm M-F.  Free maps are available at most stations.

A taxi from O'Hare to the hotels/campus area normally costs between $25-35.  If the driver does not know the UIC area, tell them to take the 90/94 to 290 west and to exit immediately onto onto Morgan Street. At the light, take a left onto Morgan street,  and go a half block down to Harrison Street. Take a right onto Harrison and go five blocks to Ashland.
