The Chicago public train system is called the "El" ("elevated train"), not the "subway".  Rides cost $1.50 and transfers are 30 cents.  To ride the train, you must buy a plastic CTA card from a dispenser in any El station; you can add money to this card and reuse it. El maps are available free at most stations, and are posted inside most train cars.

Take the Blue Line from O'Hare and exit at the UIC/Halsted stop. Follow the signs to the Peoria Street exit. At street level, take a left and walk one half block north to Van Buren Street. On Van Buren, take a right and walk one city block east to Halsted Street (towards the tall downtown buildings, you will cross two smaller streets). On Halsted, take a left and walk three blocks north and, just past the Walgreen's, you will see the QUALITY INN.  You are walking north if downtown Chicago is on your right. The UIC campus is a short walk southwest from the hotel and the UIC/Halsted stop.

The Blue Line runs from O'Hare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A taxi from O'Hare to the hotels/campus area normally costs between $25-35.  If the driver does not know the UIC area, tell them to take the 90/94 to the Madison Street (west) exit. The hotel will be visible to your right as soon as you reach the street level from the expressway. It is located approximately one half block west of the expressway.
