About the Molecular Biology Consortium |
| |
The
Molecular Biology Consortium's three primary investigators,
Dr. Philip Matsumura, Dr. Shahid Khan, and Dr. Ed Westbrook,
created the consortium to further microbiology research through
collaboration and the pooling of resources.
The Molecular Biology Consortium's primary investigators have
three labs in the Chicago Land Area: The Chicago Tech Park Lab
in Chicago, the University of Illinois Chicago Lab, and Dr.
Ed Westbrook's lab in Burr Ridge, Illinois.
Each of these facilities has a different concentration. Dr.
Philip Matsumura's lab at the University of Chicago specializes
in ligh microscopy techniques. Dr. Shahid Khan's lab in Chicago's
tech park specializes in electron microscopy, and Dr. Ed Westbrooks's
lab specializes in X-ray crystalography. By combining specialties,
the Molecular Biology Consortium's researchers are able to match
micro images and macro images and map the molecular world with
unique precision.
