On Going Research Support:

1 R01 RR16334-01 Edwin M. Westbrook (PI) 03/15/02 – 03/31/05
NCRR
A CCD Crystallographic X-ray Detector with Lens Optics
This grant supports development of a new type of X-ray diffraction detector in which the CCD is coupled to the converting phosphor plate by a lens instead of a fiber-optic taper. There is no overlap of this project with the proposed project.
Role: Principal Investigator

1 R01 RR16230-01 Edwin M. Westbrook (PI) 03/15/02 – 03/31/05
NCRR
3DX: A Micromachined Silicon Crystallographic X-ray Detector
This grant supports development of a radically new type of X-ray diffraction detector in which X rays are captured directly in a silicon wafer. The detection wafer in this system is micro-machined to have a pixel array. The electronic signal is passed through bump bonds to a readout ASIC chip and subsequently to a computer. There is no overlap of this project with the proposed project.
Role: Principal Investigator

01-16615 Edwin M. Westbrook (PI) 06/01/02 – 05/31/05
NSF, Instrumentation and Instrument Development
Development of a Very Large Area Detector for Protein Crystallography
This grant supports development of a very large CCD area detector for protein crystallography. It will be used at the new MBC beamline. There is no overlap of this project with the proposed project.
Role: Principal Investigator

Beamline Construction Project Philip Matsumura(PI) 01/01/00 – 09/30/02
Molecular Biology Consortium
Construction of the ALS Beamline 4.2.2
This project is to build a beamline for the Molecular Biology Consortium, at the Advanced Light Source, that will be used for macromolecular crystallography. It is this beamline that we propose to automate as the central task of the proposed project. There is no overlap of this project with the proposed project.
Role: Project Manager and Consortium Director
