Origins: January-February, 1999

From the depths of time and space to the city's founding, from the origins of the universe to the roots of modern art, Origins explores beginnings.

Environment: March-April, 1999

Central to this theme is a discussion about the demands of the human enterprise versus the need for protecting and preserving the environment.

Discovery and Technology: May-June, 1999

This theme focuses on the great scientific discoveries and achievements of the past as well as the impact of the current rapid pace of technological advancement.

Shaping Community: July-August, 1999

How we live together defines us as a people, as a city and as a nation. This theme looks at how we continuously shape, develop and define our communities.

New Directions: September - October, 1999

This theme examines how we, as a culture, react to and interpret new creative directions, and presents means by which we can secure a future for our creative communities.

Transitions: November - December, 1999

As we embark on the 21st Century, Transitions asks where will future generations take us? What will prove to be the enduring legacies of the 20th Century?
