Conference Hotel Information

Official PFLAG Conference Hotel

We had a small block of discounted rooms reserved at Quality Inn-Downtown (just off I-90/94), 1 Midcity Plaza (at Halsted & Madison). To reserve a room, call (800) 228-5151 or (312) 829-5000 and indicate you are with PFLAG. These rooms were released May 5 to the general public. There may still be rooms available, but not at our discounted conference rate.

Hotel Referral Services

There is a free hotel referral service that you can contact for help in finding a room. UIC and PFLAG do not endorse this business but, if you are seeking housing space after the May 5 deadline, you may want to consider it.

• Hot Rooms® advertises that they can provide discounted rates to hotel rooms in the Chicago area (you need a credit card to guarantee your reservation). This is a free service to their callers. Contact Hot Rooms at 1-800-468-3500 or send your request by fax to 312-649-0559 or by e-mail to hotrooms@wwa.com. If all hotels rooms are sold out, they will put you on a waiting list (with no guarantee that they will be able to match you). There is a $25 charge if they match you to a hotel and secure a reservation and you later cancel the reservation (except in case of an emergency).
   
• If you prefer to seek out your own hotel, there is a list of hotels at Centerstage Chicago. The hotels they list in the business district are closest to the UIC campus. Digital City Chicago also has a list of hotels for you to search.
   
• Digital City Chicago's map search claims they can help you find any address in the city (should you need help locating hotels - or the conference site!).

Public Transportation:

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provides transportation resources for the Chicagoland area. This site offers fare information, detailed maps, and bus & "el" train schedules. The nearest "el" stop to the PFLAG Conference is "Halsted/UIC" on the Blue line (exit at the east end of the station - go right onto Halsted and walk south to Chicago Circle Center - a little over a city block).

Subway Navigator- helps you compute total travel time and the number of stops between start and end destinations (Caution: This site is getting dated and travel times may be a little inaccurate). It can be really helpful for who might choose to stay in Lakeview ("Boystown") (you have to transfer trains downtown from the red line to the blue line to get to UIC).
