Whiteman Receives MacArthur Funding
The MacArthur Foundation has awarded
David Whiteman, Department of Government and International Studies, University
of South Carolina, $36,000 to study the political impact of documentary film.
The grant will fund research on the ways social-issue documentaries by independent
filmmakers are used by community and activist groups in campaigns for social
change. Whiteman heads the Project on Documentary Film and Social Change and
