This issue of Political Communication Report looks forward to events at the upcoming APSA convention in Washington, D.C., with the tentative business meeting agenda, a report on the section's future from a "brain trust" of former section chairs, a plan to create a young scholars committee, a draft document for the Doris Graber Award, and advance notice about a special session on the Poly Awards for political ads. The commentary page opens a discussion about the need for television news archives in the United States. Jim Snider, APSA Congressional Fellow in Communications and Public Policy, proposes that the section take action to influence copyright laws that affect the archiving of news and related closed captioning. You're invited to weigh in with your views. The book review section opens with a short essay by David Paletz surveying the book series in political communication available from various publishers. The books section also includes a brief annotation for each book received, as well as a list of other books published in political communication. Coverage of the ICA conference in Acapulco includes the minutes of the business meeting and a list of sessions sponsored by the division, alongside the usual listings of other upcoming meetings and links to the proceedings of other conferences. The U.S. presidential election season will soon be in full swing, and this issue includes some resources for those teaching political communication or election-related courses: a class activity for watching debates, information on the Poly Awards for campaign advertisements, an offer for ordering videos of political ads, and election-related links. A message from Steve Reese, the incoming chair of the ICA division, and notice of some fellowship opportunities fill out the issue. The joint APSA/ICA Political Communication newsletter, Political Communication Report, is published exclusively on line. Send your comments, reviews, feature articles, and notes about accomplishments, calls for papers, and meeting announcements for inclusion in the next issue by October 15. Kevin
