End-of-Life-Care Training

The Volunteers of America developed a training curriculum on end-of-life care for people with intellectual disabilities, their carers, and their loved ones. “Last Passages: Transforming the Experience of Death for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Their people with intellectual disabilities, their carers, and their loved ones. “Last Passages: Transforming the Experience of Death for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Their Support Network” was funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities. The VoA conducted training, evaluated the curriculum, and developed a train-the-trainer version. The curriculum has been translated into Spanish. The VoA will collaborate with the RRTC on disseminating its training so it can reach the broad audience for whom it is intended when its grant ends in 2004. The RRTC will publicize the curriculum, which the VoA will distribute at minimal cost. Staff from both organizations will provide training nationally.
