Promoting Aging and Disability Friendly Environments

Furthering State Aging and Disability Network Collaborations
Training Staff: Alan Factor, PhD, Tamar Heller, PhD, & Matt Janicki, PhD

With the growing numbers of adults with I/DD who may be active service recipients of state funded services, states have to begin to focus more attention on adapting their services and supports to accommodate aging related needs. TA will target state activities and as requested RRTC resources will be used to aid states in designing appropriate services and bridging services provided by the state and local I/DD agencies with those of the aging network. To draw upon the latest research findings, TA will be, in relevant cases, linked to the outcomes of the RRTC’s research studies – for example, findings from the nursing home use practices and the dementia care adaptation studies will enable us to more effectively provide aid to states.
