Schedule of Programs

UPARC (Upper Pinellas ARC), the RRTC on Aging with Developmental Disabilities at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of South Florida, along with the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council are cosponsoring a two-day conference on aging and developmental disabilities on Thursday and Friday, December 5 and 6, 2002.

The goal of this conference is to promote a greater awareness of program practices, aging and preventative health, family supports, and service innovations throughout a variety of providers and to set the stage for a series of annual national conferences in aging and developmental disabilities for agencies in the United States. The venue will be the Conference Center at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. The Conference will have a series of both plenary and tutorial breakout sessions covering a range of issues, including tracks on health and development, family assistance, dementia care, environmental design, behavioral approaches, program and support, and assessment issues.

Plenary speakers include Dr. Edward F. Ansello of the Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Matthew P. Janicki of the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Dr. James Mortimer of the University of South Florida. Tutorial breakout sessions will include presenters from all over the United States, as well as Australia, Ireland, Japan, and Scotland.

The conference is open to all interested persons. Attendees are advised to register early as registration will be limited to permit optimal use of the tutorial breakout sessions. The registration fee for both days is $175. There is an early registration fee of $150 and the deadline for early registration is November 1, 2002. A registration form (an image to print) is available for download. It can be sent or faxed to UPARC as per information on the form.
