Applications of Americans with Disabilities Act (Alan Factor, Ph.D)

Objective
To provide information on applications of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with special attention to improving accessibility of senior programs and community sites used by older persons with mental retardation.

Target Adience
Consumers, family members, agency staff, aging network participants, direct care staff, program administrators.

Progress to Date

Developing resource materials on accessibility based on the Assistive Technology track of the
RRTCADD's November 2001 Invitational Research Symposium on Aging and Developmental
Disabilities. Developing a manual based on the RRTCADD's employability study of older adults, which
will be used for training and technical assistance. RRTCADD Advocate Advisor provides technical
assistance to state ID/DD agencies, self-advocacy groups, and other organizations on ADA
accommodations for people with I/DD.
