| Useful Links Chicago is served by most major airlines. Most flights arrive at O'Hare International Airport. Some domestic flights (Southwest, ATA) arrive at Midway. Chicago is also a major hub for Amtrak. As only limited valet parking is available at the hotel, driving is not recommended. American Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways, Delta, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, Southwest Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Sabena, Quantas, Amtrak, Greyhound, Travelocity From O'Hare Airport (where all International flights arrive) you can take a taxi which will cost about $40, and take from 30-75 minutes depending on the traffic. International flights arrive at Terminal 5, and domestic flights and some from Canada arrive at Terminals 1, 2 and 3. (When you depart make sure to check if you are also leaving from Terminal 5. International Flights on United Airlines and American Airlines, or their code-share partners often leave from terminals 1 and 3 respectively.) A cheaper alternative than the taxi is to take Continental Airport Shuttle which costs about $19 (check their website for more information, as reservations in advance are sometimes required). Finally you could take the Chicago Transit Authority Blue Line train which costs only $1.50 to get downtown. The nearest stop to the hotel is Clark and Lake, but you would then still need to get a taxi, so this method is not recommended for the weary traveler. From Midway Airport you can take a taxi (about $20), an airport shuttle (about $14), or the CTA Orange line train, which is the least convenient. If you arrive in downtown Chicago by Amtrak (at Union Station) or Greyhound (at the Greyhound Bus Terminal) the best way to get to the hotel is to take a taxi. Driving is not a good idea as only limited valet parking is available at the hotel. If driving is your preferred choice, please contact the hotel directly for more information on their rates.
Chicago has some of the finest dining and entertainment options anywhere in the country. From nationally acclaimed theatre (such as Steppenwolf and Goodman), music (Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as many jazz, blues and rock clubs), and museums (Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum), to sports (White Sox, Cubs) you will find something to suit your tastes. As for food, the city has some of the best restaurants in the country (such as Charlie Trotter's), as well as many top quality, unique and interesting ones (such Frontera Grill, MK, Blackbird, Bin 36, to name a few). Chicago is also a city of neighborhoods, and although many ethnic areas are changing, you can still find neighborhood restaurants serving authentic gnocchi, pirogis or bratwurst from the old world, as well as an expanding menu of choices from the new world and Asia. If the weather permits, a relaxing way to spend time is to take a sightseeing or an architectural boat tour. Boats leave from the Michigan Avenue bridge over the Chicago River. After a boat tour you could get a "Cheezborger" at the Billy Goat Tavern, the inspiration for the old SNL sketch. Or you could just stroll the streets of the city visiting the many shops along Michigan Avenue (including Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Niketown, Sony, FAO Schwartz, Crate and Barrel, Borders, Pottery Barn, Virgin, and most other national retailers), or in the loop (such as the ornate and classic Marshall Fields, Carson Pirie Scott, Sears, Tower Records, and the many jewelers along Wabash). For those of you who arrive on Saturday, the Chicago Cubs are playing Houston at 3.05 pm. If you want to see a game on Tuesday night when no meeting events are planned, the Chicago White Sox are playing at 7.05 pm against Kansas City.
