Venue and Hotel Information NEW INFORMATION (April 2, 2002) : The hotel room rate is now $185, reduced from $195. If you have already reserved, there is no need to do anything, the hotel will change your reservation to reflect the new rate. The meeting will take place in the Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. This charming and elegant hotel is ideally situated just off Michigan Avenue (The Magnificent Mile). World-class shopping and an array of dining and entertainment venues are within walking distance. Lake Michigan, Oak Street Beach, and access to biking and jogging paths are just one-half block away. All scientific sessions will take place at the Knickerbocker Hotel. We are arranging two off-site dinner functions. On Monday night we will have a casual dinner at a location to be announced later. On Wednesday night we will have our closing reception and banquet at the John G. Shedd Aquarium. Guest tickets are available for both events (see the Registration information pages for details). These rooms will be held until rented or May 1, 2002. Reservations should be made early to ensure availability. In addition, note that room sharing is possible, with up to 4 people per room, thereby providing a considerable cost saving per person. If you are traveling alone to the meeting and wish to share a room, you can email us at serpins@uic.edu. Your information will be placed on the roomshare page, and you can contact others who are also looking to share. Standard guestrooms include one (king) or two (double or queen) beds. Guestroom amenities include telephone with dataport and voicemail, cable television, hairdryer, coffeemaker, iron and ironing board, bathrobe, and mini-bar. Guest services include fitness room, daily maid service, and 24-hour room service. Non-smoking rooms are available upon request. Rate: The symposium rate is now $185, single or double occupancy. The charge for each additional occupant is $20. All rates are per night and subject to prevailing taxes (currently 14.9%). Reservations: Lodging reservations should be made directly with the hotel and can be made by mail, phone, or fax. For mail or fax reservations, complete and return the Lodging Reservation Form., which for your convenience we have provided in HTML and MS Word formats. With phone reservations, be sure to reference the symposium room block code (UIIIC). All reservations must be guaranteed by a credit card or deposit.
