Response-to-Intervention (RTI) Modules
Response-to-Intervention (RTI) is an alternative method of identifying students with learning disabilities (LD), and part of IDEA 2004.
The IRIS Center, in collaboration with the Tennessee State Board of Education and the TN State Improvement Grant has created a set of online modules where you can learn more about the approach.
The first module gives an overview of the RTI, and can be viewed on the IRIS website at: http://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/rti01_overview/chalcycle.htm
The second module, just released this summer, goes into greater depth and focuses on assessment and progress-monitoring. IT is also available online at: http://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/rti02_assessment/chalcycle.htm
RTI is just one of many subjects the IRIS Center is working to educate special education professionals on. You can explore the full range of online modules, covering such diverse topics as developing behavior intervention plans, evaluating reading progress, and multicultural education at http://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/onlinemodules.html.
