October 12, 2004 Field Advisory
First the students reviewed the contents of the September, 2004 newsletter. The newsletter dealt with opening your classroom at the beginning of the year with keeping all activities student centered. There were three areas discussed including learning environment, resources, and behavior.
In the two large groups, students and mentors discussed real life case scenarios and how to help students with special needs in these settings.
Candidates moved into groups of four to six to discuss questions in the areas mentioned. Candidates had to make sure they discussed all questions while keeping their responses centered on the education of students with special needs.
In the small groups, students worked on answering a series of questions about beginning of the school year issues such as resources, physical environment and social aspects. The goal was to make answers centered around what is best educationally for the child.
