For Current Students
The commitment you've made to the STEP=UP program and to your education might seem daunting, but chances are that the next few years will fly by. Make the most of your time here at UIC by taking advantage of all the supports STEP=UP has to offer.
Resources for Current Students
As a STEP=UP student, you have a wide array of resources available to you to help enhance your learning and deepen your understanding of educational practice.
- Events Calendar - Find out when and where the next Field Advisory will take place at our online calendar.
- Master's Degree Program: Partner Connections and Field Advisories - STEP=UP staff members prepare summaries of all Partner Connection and Field Advisory meetings, including details about selected artifacts and highlights from conversations around issues of practice.
- STEP=UP Resource Library - The STEP=UP Resource Library is fully stocked with materials you can actually use in the classroom, as well as in your graduate studies. As a Master's Degree student, you can save money and get great ideas during your internship and student teaching semesters by borrowing science kits, picture books, multiple copies of award-winning young adult literature (enough for a small reading group or book club in your classroom), math games and puzzles and more! Or get ideas for writing lesson plans from books of lesson plans, preview materials from the Wilson Reading System and read up on strategies for classroom management.
We add new materials to the library every semester based on your suggestions, so be sure to visit early on the program to see both what we have and what we don't, so you can take best advantage of this great resource throughout your course of study.

Keep Your Contact Information Current
STEP=UP staff members send out regular email reminders about upcoming events, including mandatory meetings, course registration deadlines, professional development opportunities and more. You are automatically signed up to receive these email messages when you join STEP=UP, using the email address you provided on your application.
Should your email address change, it is your responsibility to contact your doctoral advisor to notify us of the change. If you have any questions about whether or not you are receiving all of the messages you should from our listserv, email you doctoral advisor as soon as possible to verify that we have your correct email address.
Project staff members will also be in touch with you by phone at least once per semester to conduct a mandatory interview and to "check in" and see if you have any questions or concerns. We may also need to mail you important documents related to your service obligation or your status with the program. It is therefore critical that you let us know if you move or if you change your name. Email your doctoral advisor with any changes to your contact information.
