November 30, 2004 Field Advisory

The November 30, 2004 Field Advisory focused on helping students learn more about organizing themselves both for the UIC Master's program and also for their lives as teachers.

Student led discussion

Many of our students have the challenge of attending graduate school and working full time, either in the schools or elsewhere, while attending school.

Students talked over scenarios for dealing with the massive amount of paperwork that special educators must handle during the course of a year. Students worked with experienced teachers to solve the practical problematic situations that were offered at the field advisory.

Discussion led by mentor, Kim Mercer
Julie Saks, Cindy Muran, Joy Popov, and Partner Kim Mercer.

The other piece of the organizational question is managing time for university study. Students in the program take between two and four course per semester and are expected to maintain a "B" average. There are strategies to help, which were discussed with the group.
