Patenting Behavior of Academic Scientists and Engineers (2008-2010)

The project examines the motivation of academic scientists who undertake patenting activities in university settings.

Women in Science and Engineering (2005-2009)

This NSF funded project studies how and why social and professional networks make a difference in the career outcomes of women in STEM fields.

LEAP Evaluation (2008-2010)

The project is evaluating the NSF (IGERT) sponsored Landscape, Ecological, Anthropogenic Process (LEAP) program, a multidisciplinary doctoral program at UIC.

National Biosolids Management Study (2006-present)

The project examines environmental management practices of waste water facilities in the U.S. Specifically it seeks to explain why public sector organizations voluntarily adopt environmental management systems(EMS).

CTA-Urban Transportation Center Projects (multiyear)

ST&E Policy Lab faculty regularly collaborate on ongoing research with the Urban Transportation Center located in CUPPA. The research addresses transit behavior, stakeholder integration, new technology initiative, perceptions of safety, environmental outcomes, among others.

Assessing the LIFE (Learning in Informal and Formal Environments) Center: A Scientific and Technical Human Capital Evaluation Model.

The project is specifically interested in gains to research knowledge, preparation of new researchers, and research capacity building.


PAST PROJECTS

Evaluation of Mid-America EarthQuake (MAE) Engineering Research Center

The project conducted an evaluation of the MAE center to detect their interim and long term outcomes. The project employed a sound use of social network analysis.

Digital Citizenship: The Internet, Society and Participation

The study looks at access to internet and participation of citizens in the democratic process.

R&D Investment and Economic Development (2004-present)

The project examines strategies of economic development used by governments to encourage business relocation. It also examines the innovation policy structure and outcomes.

Assessing Effectiveness of Alternative Fuel Vehicle Fleet Replacement in Local Government (2004-present)
