R&D evaluation research focuses on:
- Evaluating the performance of National Science Foundation research centers, IGERT and EPSCoR programs including creating new approaches for measuring the impact of collaboration networks on performance; and
- Exploring the application of performance measurement for the management of R&D centers and programs.
Current Projects |
LEAP EvaluationThe three-year evaluation of the Landscape, Ecological, and Anthropogenic Processes (LEAP) IGERT program at UIC is primarily designed to identify the impacts of the program and possible improvements in order to respond to any external request for evaluation and strengthen the possible application for continued funding. The evaluation addresses perceptions of students and faculty, as well as collaborative activities among students and between faculty and students. It also explores the program curriculum and program management activities such as recruiting. |
Kansas EPSCor EvaluationIn November 2006 researchers at ST&E Policy Lab presented a total of nine papers at the annual Association for Public Policy and Management (APPAM) conference. Over half of these papers were presented by doctoral students in the S&T program in Graduate Program in Public Administration. Please see the working papers for a selection of the APPAM abstracts for a description of these papers. |
Center or Clinical and Translational Science R&D Network EvaluationAs part of UIC's recent $20 million NIH award for a new Center for Clinaical and Translational Science, the STE Lab has received five years of funding to evaluate the formal and informal networks that develop among scientists, clinicians and stakeholders. |
